With God We Will Gain the Victory   Leave a comment

Psalm 108:1-6,12-13

1 My heart, O God, is steadfast;
I will sing and make music with all my soul.
2 Awake, harp and lyre!
I will awaken the dawn.
3 I will praise you, LORD, among the nations;
I will sing of you among the peoples.
4 For great is your love, higher than the heavens;
your faithfulness reaches to the skies.
5 Be exalted, O God, above the heavens;
let your glory be over all the earth.

6 Save us and help us with your right hand,
that those you love may be delivered.

12 Give us aid against the enemy,
for human help is worthless.
13 With God we will gain the victory,
and he will trample down our enemies.

Eagles Wings   Leave a comment

The LORD is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary,
and his understanding no one can fathom.
He gives strength to the weary
and increases the power of the weak.
Even youths grow tired and weary,
and young men stumble and fall;
but those who hope in the LORD
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1

God in Our Life   Leave a comment

by Carol Rhodes

To be truly blessed, prosperous & free in Christ, we need to be rooted in Him. Col. 2:6,7-See to it no one takes you captive through philosophy & empty deception, according to the tradition of men, according to the elementary principles of the world, rather than according to Christ.

I always knew there was a God, but had no confidence what so ever He cared a bit about me. I became totally reconciled to God by accepting Jesus Christ. The only thing was I kept feeling like a failure as a christian. My life was far from demonstrating faith in God. So the following is what changed me around, & I hope it helps you. God wasn’t waiting on me to improve myself-He wants me to continually give up on my own resources (self-sufficiency) & trust Him. He wants us to exchange our old futile way of living for Christ’s life. We can then find our suffiency in Him. To be truly blessed, prosperous & free in Christ, we need to be rooted in Him. Col. 2:6,7-See to it no one takes you captive through philosophy & empty deception, according to the tradition of men, according to the elementary principles of the world, rather than according to Christ.

Dependence on God & God’s Will   Leave a comment

by Carol Rhodes

(I use the term “we” generally.) I will wager to say most people in AA have encountered a crisis of a blown-out self will run rampant along with the consequences of alcoholic drinking. Once in AA, many glance at the steps & want nothing to do with depending on a higher power much less anybody else. But thank goodness we also see pretty quickly that dependence upon an AA meeting, or a higher power of our understanding doesn’t make us weak, because we find we gain strength to keep away from the booze. We find ourselves looking closely at step 3 & we wonder how we can turn our will over. We’re sober, but by now, if we don’t have a sponsor, we realize this is definitely the time to get one. So wow. At this point, we’ve crossed a lot of hurdles. We have come to depend on a higher power, & a sponsor. We learn that for us as alcoholics,God’s will is continuous action with the steps as a way of life. Be blessed.

Your Sober~Give Your Dreams a Chance   Leave a comment

By Carol Rhodes

We’re sober now, & we can dream new dreams or resurect the old ones we gave up on. Did you know that what is ahead of you is far more important than what’s behind you?-Jeremiah 29:11-For I know the plans I have for you, says God. They are plans to prosper you, & not harm you. They are plans to give you hope & a future. Did you know where you are going is more important than where you came from? Maybe it seems like your dreams have died. But know,God hasn’t given up on you or your dreams. As you grow & get some sobriety under your belt, realize God can take you places you never imagined. Just keep your faith & trust in your God. He promises that no weapon formed against you will prosper. MOST IMPORTANTLY–IN QUIET TIMES, TALK to God about dreams & everything-Seek Him & surrender each day. He can make all things work together for his children who love Him. Words of a famous pastor: fight all your battles on your knees,& leave the results to God.
